Earth Alchemy Factory - Atelier NL

During the Dutch Design Week I went to the Earth Alchemy Factory in the Bergmann kerk. Through this project Atelier NL "invites people to explore the world by learning and making as a community."

In the church they have their workplace in which they transform elements of the earth (e.g. sand and clay) into all kinds of items. For example, you can buy little bowls with baked sand in it, which in many cases turned into glass. There are also tiles in many earth colors, representing clay from different places in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany. The clay is also used for ceramics. The paint samples you can see are made of different kinds of soil.

In sum, it is a great project that shows you all the things you can do with simple natural materials. xx

For those that still want to go, Dutch Design Week runs until sunday the 25th, find more info here. xx

Gallery Wall

Looking for inspiration for on our walls. Bought a shitload of frames a while ago and I'm slowly starting to find nice prints to put in them. Some of them are still empty because I'll create something myself, at least that is the plan. I hope to have some time in July when I'm babysitting two rabbits!

Maybe at the end of summer I can show you some photos of our own home, with all our new frames on the wall. If you have any suggestion for another nice print, please tell me. Still looking for some nice 40x50 sized ones. xx

Berlin Wall Art

One of the best things of Berlin is all the creativity that flows throughout the city. For example, you can find graffiti on almost every corner. One can actually better call it wall art, since cannot be compared to the 'tags' and other 'artworks' one finds here. The wall paintings in Berlin are often pieces of art; it is clear that true artists have been working on them.

Above you can find a selection of my personal favorites. Of course there are also many buildings covered in typical graffiti - especially in former East-Berlin areas such as Prenzlauer Berg. Which one do you like best? xx
